‘The Department Of Islamic Development Of Malaysia’ raises objection to Lamb Of God’s Scheduled Show in Kuala Lumpur.

Lamb Of GOd Rockaway 2013

Malaysian news outlet ‘The Star’ reports that The Department Of Islamic Development Of Malaysia has raised a formal objection to the proposed Lamb Of God concert on 28th September 2013 as part of Rockaway 2013. The Star quotes director-general of the organisation, known as Jakim, Datuk Othman Mustapha saying the group “raised the objection on Friday because the genre of music that the group had performed was a mix of metal songs with the reading of verses from the Quran”.

Of course, as many Lamb Of God fans know, the band members themselves have varied religious beliefs and morales, none of which are against religion. The lyrics of their music, while often dealing with various themes and political view-points also have little to do with religion, and don’t present any impression of religious intolerance.

Director-General Othman said the objections raised were “in accordance with the decision of the Fatwa (Edicts) Committee that the practices and acts of black metal groups were misguided and contrary to the true teachings of Islam.”

The decision will be referred to officials in Malaysia for further consideration, and while we fully respect the religion and decisions of Malaysia, it would be a great shame if Lamb Of God fans in Malaysia were to miss out!

The Design Process Behind Lamb Of God’s ‘As The Palaces Burn’ Album Art.

Some albums have artwork that is just as memorable as the songs themselves, but unlike the songs, the stories behind the art are almost never told.

Lamb Of God’s long time art director K3n Adams created the album artwork for the 2003 release ‘As The Palaces Burn’ from junk, “Actually, a lot of the same junk I used for New American Gospel” he says. The concept for the cover was Technology Worship, and it was designed to look as if technology had become a deity, organic matter fusing with circuitry to become one organism.

K3n’s take on the ‘Shroud Of Turin’ was added as an overlay. The shroud was made up of various wiring diagrams, weaving the theme of technology as a god over the piece and creating a ‘skin’. In the initial run of 70,000 copies, the shroud was printed onto a separate clear Mylar insert. During the printing process static would build up in large amounts and shock the printing press workers, despite various efforts to prevent it.

Randy Blythe Releases Short Film Shot While He Was On Trial In Prague.

Randy Blythe has released a short film that he shot in Prague, Czech Republic, through his Tumblr page. The video is entitled ‘PRAGUE: The Devil Is In The Details’, and features various clips of buildings and monuments in the Czech capital, along with local folk culture marionettes. Randy had originally wanted to release it before his final trial hearing, but was advised against it by his legal team, as his artistic intentions could have been misconstrued.

Of the video, he states:

“This is a movie I made in Prague during my trial. …… My idea was to show my mind set through film and music during the process of my trial …… Working in a creative capacity during the trial helped me to remain calm”

The video is embedded below for convenience, but head on over to Randy’s Tumblr page for the full story to go with it.

Young Fan Interviews Mark Morton (And Does A Good Job Too!) At UK’s Bloodstock Festival

I always trawl YouTube after a major Lamb Of God tour searching for interesting interviews and stories to share with the fans. I’ve seen a lot of below-par and uninteresting interviews over the years.

‘EQPTV’ managed to catch an interview with Mark Morton while he prepared for the band’s headlining gig at Bloodstock Festival in the UK, and actually posed some great questions, despite the interviewers age!

Chris Adler Says Lamb Of God Have “A Little Surprise Before The End Of The Year”

We love surprises, and especially Lamb Of God surprises, so we were happy to hear that Chris Adler posted the following message on his FaceBook page today.

In the short message he discusses the bands success with summer festivals in Europe, and his part in recording drums for the new Protest The Hero album. Unsurprisingly we aren’t going to see Chris dedicate much, if any, time to playing shows with Protest The Hero.

Chris signs off with talk of a ‘few big announcements’ regarding tours and a little surprise at the end of the years. Well, I’m fairly certain the big tour news is going to be Lamb Of God playing in new countries, it’s recently become public knowledge that Lamb Of God will be in South Africa next year.

As for the surprises, we’ll have to wait and see?!

“Hey all!

Things have been going really well on this trip for us. The band is playing well and much of the hard work we have put in is being rewarded with great slots on the festivals we are doing and huge side shows in between. I feel very lucky to be a part of where we are right now and am enjoying it quite a bit.

I’ve now heard the Protest The Hero record and it’s fantastic! I love listening to it and hope you all do as well. I’ve been asked many times on this tour that since I played drums on the record if I will be touring with them or would consider playing on other projects. I’m fairly sure my schedule won’t allow for me to properly join their band and tour. As much as I love the music, I love being with my family too! LOL. We shall see as it’s not even something we have discussed.

As for other projects, it’s hard to answer that. I was a fan of PTH and jumped at the chance to step out of my box a little bit, push myself and explore my capabilities. It turned into quite a daunting task, but I’m much better off for it. I think I’d have to evaluate every opportunity in the same way. Obviously my main focus is LOG, it’s still my heart and soul and I’m loving being able to get out and share it with you.

We’ve got a few big announcements coming soon regarding tours that will end the Resolution cycle and a little surprise before the end of the year. Stay tuned – and stay metal!

~Chris”

Who Is Roger Brilliant?

Every Lamb Of God tour seems to have some sort of running joke, and this time around is no exception!

Frontman Randy Blythe has recently taken to his Instagram page to post several videos concerning his British alter ego, ‘Roger Brilliant’. Several of Lamb Of God’s crew, bandmates and fellow artists can also be seen in the videos.

Posted below are all the videos so far, and we’ll be sure to update as more are added!

“WHO IS ROGER BRILLIANT?!?!?!?!?!?”

“WHEN WILL ROGER BRILLIANT HIT THE STAGE?!?!?!?!?!?”

“While Roger Brilliant is completely satisfied after another day of basking in his own brilliance, Roger Brilliant’s manager is trying to relax after a long day of managing Roger Brilliant’s brilliance.”

“When ROGER BRILLIANT visits Ampsterdam, the prostitutes pay HIM to walk through the Redlight District.”

“Roger Brilliant’s booking agent, Nobby, is NOT satisfied with today’s festival promoter’s rider arrangements.”

“The French HATE Roger Brilliant.”

“@wakaflockabsm & @BrickBronson are out for Roger Brilliant too- DAMN! Waka Flocka Flame is gangsta as fuck- Roger can’t catch a break at PukklePop- motherfuckers are obviously jealous of his BRILLIANCE.”

“Roger Brilliant’s Aussie road manager, Phillip Appleton the 3rd, is not happy with Roger wanting to tag Charles DeGaul airport before he flies over for his American vacation.”

“Roger Brilliant gets stuck at the airport hotel upon arriving in the USA & is exposed to American football for the first time.”
